Little Tokens of Love - A Valentines Gift Guide
I used to feel a bit bleh about Valentine’s Day.
“Why do we need one specific day to celebrate love?” I’d say.
“Surely it’s something we should be doing all the time — without all the fuss and commercialism.”
And of course, that’s still true.
But somewhere along the way, I softened.
Because why not celebrate love on Valentine’s Day? We celebrate birthdays, seasons, traditions, small milestones… so why not this too? A little nudge in the middle of winter to pause, notice, and make something feel slightly special.
We don’t go wild over here. It’s usually something simple, a bottle of fizz with supper, cooking something delicious, possibly heart shaped. We'll set the table a little more thoughtfully than usual. Snow drops, candles, proper napkins.
Sometimes we skip gifts altogether. Other years, it’s a small token, or something we both get to enjoy for the home/garden. New bedding that makes our room feel like a hotel, fluffy robes, rose scented candles. This year we treated ourselves to the coffee machine on this list. I still need to get something small and quirky for the boys and thought the red roses lego could be a fun gift.
But always cards. I love writing in cards. It feels like a rare, uninterrupted moment to say the things that we don't always get around to every day. A chance to remind our partner, children, or friends just how deeply loved they are.
So, if you’re feeling in the mood for a few Valentine’s treats, here’s a little inspiration…
For him, for her, for them.
Little luxuries for the home, garden, bedroom. Things you might love too, so feel free to leave this page open on your laptop… just in case…
